Brand story


Nestled in southeastern Zhejiang lies the famed Taoist mountain of Kuocang - a place of ancient spiritual practice and the birthplace of China's finest yumberries. 

In the summer of 1007 AD (4th year of Jingde, Northern Song Dynasty), Taoist healer Wang Wen of Yongan (now Xianju County, Taizhou) gathered ripe yumberries for his family. These precious fruits were so cherished that his household saved them rather than eating them all at once. But during the humid Jiangnan rainy season, the leftover berries began to ferment. As Wang Wen sighed at the sight, a remarkable aroma rose from the bubbling fruit – sparking an idea. He transferred the fermenting yumberries into a porcelain jar, allowing nature to take its course. Ten days later, the jar held a richly fragrant brew. Wang Wen then distilled this liquid using traditional techniques. The result was extraordinary: a spirit both elegant and mellow, with a soft mouthfeel and lingering sweetness.
He named this unique creation "YUMM" – a tribute to its origin and allure.
Today, YUMM honors Wang Wen’s discovery through our philosophy:
